King Cake Updates

Current Update

02/15/26 @ 7:30pm CT

We’ve just hit our current production milestone at order #14645, which means any new orders might roll into our first week of March baking and shipping window.

But don’t worry or cancel yet—we will be keeping a close eye on our ovens and may still be able to fulfill extra cakes into the batches being baked on Lundi Gras (2/16) and Delivered on Mardi Gras (2/17)!

Our goal is to fulfill all of them. We will do our best.

BUT if we can't, we think getting a King Cake in March sounds great!

So please hang tight—there’s a good chance your order will ship sooner than expected. We’ll send your tracking info the moment your cake is on its way.

We’re so grateful for your support and can’t wait to share a little sweetness with you soon!

Billy & Denny 💜💚💛

Past Updates

02/14/26 @ 12:00pm CT

We wanted to send a quick clarification regarding yesterday’s update.

All orders currently received will be baked fresh on Monday and shipped for Tuesday delivery.

At some point on Sunday (February 15), new orders may begin falling into the March 2 baking and shipping timeline (outlined below) . If you have already placed your order—or are planning to place one soon—you remain on track for our current production schedule.

Billy & Denny
The Gingerbread Twins

  • Baked Fresh: March 2
  • Shipped: March 2
  • Expected Delivery: March 3 or March 4

Once your cake is in transit, delivery timing is in the hands of the carrier.

02/13/26 @ 6:30pm CT

We are so incredibly grateful for the outpouring of King Cake orders this season. Our team is working around the clock to fulfill as many orders as possible before and on Monday. Any orders we are unable to complete in time for Mardi Gras will follow the updated timeline below.

The ovens are on, the music is playing, and we are in full King Cake production mode! That said, due to the volume of orders following the recent weather disruptions, we’re unable to guarantee delivery in time for Mardi Gras Day. Please know we are still baking every cake fresh from scratch just like we always do. We would never rush the process at the expense of quality.

As of now, your order is scheduled to be:

  • Baked Fresh: March 2
  • Shipped: March 2
  • Expected Delivery: March 3 or March 4

Once your cake is in transit, delivery timing is in the hands of the carrier.

We are continuing to move through our queue as quickly and carefully as possible, and there is still a chance your order could ship sooner. We just never want to overpromise. If it does move up, you’ll automatically receive tracking information via email.

We know how special Mardi Gras is and whether your celebration happens on the day itself or continues afterward, your King Cake will arrive fresh and ready to enjoy. A quick 10–15 seconds warming each slice brings back that soft, just-baked magic.

Thank you for your patience, your kindness, and your trust during our busiest (and most joyful!) season. It truly means everything to our small Louisiana bakery. We’re so grateful to be part of your celebration.

With heartfelt appreciation,

Billy & Denny

We’re happy to share that we are quickly getting caught up on our backlog of orders. If your order is not already in transit, it will be shipping later this week or by Monday at the latest.

With the resumption of overnight shipping, we will no longer be offering the 2-day opt-in option, as it is no longer necessary. We’ve been receiving good feedback about packages arriving on schedule, and we’re especially grateful for the strong partnership and support from FedEx throughout this busy season, whose dedication has been instrumental in helping us get back on track. However, please note that we are still unable to guarantee carrier delivery times.

Thank you for your continued support, trust, and patience as we worked through our busiest season and navigated unexpected delays. Each and every customer is what makes our Mardi Gras season so special. We truly wouldn’t want to do this with anyone else, and for that, we are incredibly grateful.

02/11/26 @ 9:30am CT

We’re happy to share that overnight shipping for our king cakes has officially resumed—just in time to bring a little Mardi Gras magic to your doorstep.

We know some of you have been waiting longer than expected, and we truly appreciate the patience you’ve shown. We are now processing and shipping all remaining orders in the order they were received so that every customer is served fairly.

If your order has not yet shipped, please know it is in queue and moving forward. No action is needed from you. Our team is carefully overseeing each shipment to ensure your king cake arrives fresh and celebration-ready.

While we are shipping via overnight service, carrier delays can still occur. At this time, approximately 80% of packages are arriving in one day, with the remaining 20% arriving within two to three days. We are unable to guarantee carrier delivery times, but please know we are doing everything possible on our end to move orders out quickly and properly.

Thank you for choosing a small Louisiana bakery to be part of your traditions. We can’t wait for you to cut that first slice and share it with the people you love.

With gratitude,

Billy & Denny

A quick note before we begin:
If you’ve already received your King Cake or have received a shipping confirmation with delivery in progress, no action is needed. This message is simply informational, and you may safely disregard it. This update is intended for customers whose orders have not yet been fulfilled.

Above all else, we want to say that our hearts and prayers are with everyone impacted by Winter Storm Fern. We know many families and communities are still dealing with power outages, unsafe conditions, and the emotional weight of recovery. This has been an incredibly difficult and historic storm, and we’re holding space for all those affected.

We’re sharing this update to keep you informed and to support you in making the decision that feels most appropriate for your situation.

Where Things Stand Today

Due to severe weather impacting the Memphis hub, FedEx has experienced ongoing service disruptions since January 22, including the restrictions for overnight delivery guarantees.

In response, we introduced an optional 2-Day Express (or faster) shipping option with a $10 refund on Wednesday, February 4, to help customers continue moving orders forward.

Based on shipment data for FedEx Overnight Services on orders sent during this restricted period:

  • 79% of packages are still arriving within one day

  • 21% are arriving within 2–3 days

Final delivery timing remains outside of our control while FedEx restrictions remain in place. While many shipments are moving faster than expected. Including, in some cases, Ground, Home Delivery, and 2-Day packages arriving overnight!!!

That said, we are truly encouraged and deeply grateful for the FedEx teams who are working tirelessly with dedication and care as they navigate the challenges of this historic freeze and its aftermath.

Our Role & Responsibility

We want to be clear and transparent about what we control and what we do not.

Our responsibility is to:

  1. Begin by baking your King Cake fresh on the same day it will be handed to FedEx.

  2. Next, fulfill orders in the exact order they are received to ensure fairness and consistency.

  3. Finally, carefully package each cake and release the shipment to the carrier for delivery.

Once a package is handed to FedEx, delivery timing is managed by the carrier, especially while weather-related service alerts remain in place.

Because overnight delivery guarantees are currently suspended, we’re unable to offer refunds for packages that do not arrive overnight during this period.

Your 3 Options and Next Steps:

We want you to feel comfortable with whatever choice is best for you. At this time, you have three options:

1. Do Nothing — Stay Right Where You Are – Premium Option!!!
If you take no action, you keep your place in line and we will fulfill your order when your order number comes up.

  • Ships via FedEx Overnight as originally selected

  • Baked fresh and fulfilled in the order received

  • Due to weather, overnight delivery is currently not guaranteed

This remains the fastest path from our ovens to you while FedEx restrictions are in place.

2. Opt In to the 2-Day Express (or Better) Alternative
For customers who want their order handed to FedEx sooner.

  • Ships via FedEx Express 2-Day (or better)

  • Delivery may take approximately 2–5 days

  • Includes a $10 refund

  • Overnight guarantee remains waived

To opt in, email hello@gingerbreadtwins.com with your order number.
Orders are fulfilled in the order we receive confirmations.

3. Request a Cancellation
If you’re not comfortable proceeding under these conditions, you may request a cancellation. We completely understand and are happy to honor that request.

If We Don’t Hear From You
We’ll proceed with fulfillment based on your current, premium selection.

One More Helpful Reminder

Warm each slice for 10–15 seconds to bring back that soft, fresh-from-the-oven texture and flavor

Thank you for your patience, your trust, and the grace you’ve shown during circumstances none of us could have controlled. Billy and Denny—and everyone at Gingerbread Twins—care deeply about each and every customer, and we are truly grateful for you. Our team is working intentionally through every email, and we remain fully committed to caring for each order with the same attention and integrity we always have.

With appreciation,

First and foremost, we want you to know that our continued prayers are with everyone affected by Winter Storm Fern—especially families and communities still facing disruption and recovery. This storm has been historic, and our hearts remain with all those impacted.

We also want to check in with you today and share a clear, straightforward update regarding your order.

We understand that waiting—particularly for something you were looking forward to—can be frustrating. When shipping disruptions occur outside of anyone’s control, they can affect your sense of certainty and peace of mind. Please know that we take that responsibility seriously and are doing everything we can to move orders forward safely and responsibly.

As of today, FedEx remains under active service alerts, and overnight delivery guarantees are still suspended. At the same time, progress is being made. FedEx teams are actively working through remaining delays, and we are hopeful that normal operations will resume early next week, possibly as soon as Monday or Tuesday.

What’s Available Right Now

The Alternative Shipping Option (+ $10 refund) we shared yesterday is still available. This option allows us to transfer your King Cake to FedEx sooner, rather than waiting for overnight service to resume.

With this option, delivery may occur in 1 day, 2 days, or up to 5 days, depending on how quickly FedEx is able to move shipments through their network while restrictions remain in place.

We also want to share some encouraging news. Several customers who selected the 2-Day Express (or better) option have already received their King Cakes—in some cases as quickly as one day. This gives us confidence that shipments are moving carefully and steadily through the system again.

FedEx continues to be the most reliable carrier available, and we’re grateful for the care and effort their teams are putting in during these challenging conditions.

Looking Ahead With Clarity

Once FedEx lifts all remaining restrictions and fully restores overnight guarantees, this alternative option will no longer be offered, and all orders will return to our standard overnight shipping process.

If you’d like to choose the alternative option, please refer to yesterday’s email (which you can read here), which explains exactly how to proceed. If you’ve already opted in, there’s nothing further you need to do—your order is already moving forward. If you prefer to wait for overnight service to resume, that choice is completely respected as well.

Thank you for your patience, your trust, and the grace you’ve shown during a situation none of us could have predicted. We’re deeply grateful for you and will continue to communicate clearly so you’re never left wondering where things stand.

Warmly,

Billy & Denny

We wanted to share a quick shipping update and extend our sincere thanks for your continued patience and kindness.

At this time, there has been no official release lifting FedEx’s overnight delivery guarantees. However, we are seeing shipments move more smoothly and consistently. FedEx appears to be operating conservatively due to Super Bowl weekend and ongoing hub restrictions, but we’ve seen encouraging results—including several 2-day shipments arriving sooner than expected, and in some cases, in just one day. While delivery timelines can vary, this positive momentum has allowed us to offer an optional shipping alternative for those who prefer not to wait for overnight guarantees to resume. As we navigate this, our hearts and continued prayers are also with those who are still recovering and suffering from the recent storms.

Optional Shipping Alternative

For customers who would like their order processed and shipped as quickly as possible, we are offering the following option:

  • Ships via FedEx Express 2-Day
(delivery may take approximately 2–5 days)
  • Overnight guarantee remains waived
  • Includes a $10 refund
  • Ships as soon as we are able to after receiving your confirmation
  • Chosen at your own risk while FedEx hub restrictions remain

Important note: Not all delivery locations support Saturday delivery. If Saturday delivery is unavailable for your address, your package may ship on Monday instead. To ensure the best possible outcome & freshness, we are being intentionally conservative with weekend shipments.

If you would like to proceed with this shipping alternative, please email hello@gingerbreadtwins.com and include your order number so we can assist you promptly.

If you do not wish to opt in, no action is needed—your place in line is fully preserved, and your order will continue to process as usual once overnight shipping resumes.

We cannot thank you enough for your patience, understanding, and support. Your flexibility truly helps us navigate these moving parts while continuing to do right by every order.

We’re heading into the weekend feeling grateful for this community and wishing you a relaxing, joyful few days ahead—and for those watching, enjoy the Super Bowl!

We wanted to follow up on yesterday’s shipping update and check in with you.

With FedEx still under active service alerts and overnight guarantees currently suspended, some orders have taken longer than expected. We understand how frustrating that can be and appreciate your patience. The good news is that many King Cakes were shipped out thanks to customers who opted into our alternative 2-Day Express option, and orders are continuing to move this way.

If you’ve already opted into the 2-Day Express shipping alternative, there’s nothing further needed—your order is actively moving through fulfillment. If not, we’re still offering this optional alternative for customers who would prefer to move forward now rather than wait for overnight service to resume.

Optional Immediate Shipping Alternative

  • Ships via FedEx Express 2-Day (delivery may take 2–5 days)
  • Overnight guarantee waived
  • $10 refund included
  • Ships immediately once we receive your confirmation
  • At your own risk while FedEx hub restrictions remain

Important note: Not all delivery locations support Saturday delivery. If Saturday delivery is unavailable for your address, your package may ship out on Monday instead.

This option has been the favorite choice among our customers—it’s the quickest way to get your order moving and includes a partial refund to help offset the overnight shipping cost. By selecting this option, you’re acknowledging that delivery timing isn’t guaranteed and that delays after shipment are outside our control.

If you’d like to choose this option, please email hello@gingerbreadtwins.com and BOLDLY INCLUDE YOUR ORDER NUMBER so we can assist you quickly. If you do not wish to use this option, there’s no need to reply — your order will continue to process as usual when overnight shipping resumes.

Thank you so much for your patience, kindness, and continued support. We truly appreciate you and are doing everything we can to get orders out as quickly as possible.

We wanted to provide a clear update on your King Cake order and outline your options moving forward.

Due to ongoing carrier disruptions, FedEx has not yet confirmed consistent overnight delivery service. While we continue to work closely with them, we understand many customers are eager to get their King Cakes on the way. For that reason, we are offering an optional shipping alternative for those who would like their order to move sooner.

🚚 Optional Immediate Shipping Alternative

If you choose this option, your King Cake will be baked fresh and shipped as soon as possible, potentially as early as today, depending on order volume, under the following terms:

  • Shipment via FedEx Express 2-Day
  • Actual delivery may take 2–5 days due to current carrier conditions
  • The overnight delivery guarantee is waived
  • You will receive a $10 refund
  • Your order will be released for shipment immediately once we receive your confirmation

🔒 Assumption of Risk (Required)

By electing this option, you acknowledge and agree that delivery timing is not guaranteed and that any delays after shipment are outside of our control. The $10 refund constitutes full consideration for the removal of the overnight delivery guarantee.

⏳ Prefer to Wait for Overnight Shipping?

No problem at all.

If you would rather wait for confirmed overnight delivery, no action is required. Your order will remain securely in queue, and we will ship it automatically as soon as overnight service resumes. You will not lose your place in line.

🍰 Product Quality

Your King Cake will be baked fresh prior to shipment. Many customers report that warming individual slices for 10–15 seconds in the microwave restores the same soft, fresh, in-store experience, even after several days in transit.

📩 How to Choose the Immediate Shipping Option

If you would like to move forward with the optional shipping alternative, please email us today at:

hello@gingerbreadtwins.com

Include your order number. Your email will serve as written confirmation of your acceptance of the terms above.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We truly appreciate your trust and look forward to getting your King Cake to you.

Warm regards,

Billy & Denny

Our hearts are truly with everyone in Memphis and the surrounding areas affected by this crisis. From what we are hearing through our FedEx contacts and within our own community, this situation has been deeply impactful, and many families and workers are carrying a heavy burden. We are keeping them close in our thoughts and prayers.

If this delay has left you feeling unsettled, disappointed, or simply worn down, please know that those feelings are completely understandable. We genuinely see you, and we care.

We know many of you planned celebrations, surprises, and meaningful moments around these treats, and having that delayed can be deeply frustrating. Choosing to wait is not easy, and your excitement—and your disappointment—truly matter to us. We are choosing care over speed so your order arrives safely and exactly as you expect.

Here is a clear and transparent update on your order:

  • FedEx has not yet provided a reliable timeline for when overnight service will fully return to normal, because of this continued uncertainty, shipments must remain paused a little longer.
  • We will not ship until we are confident your king cake can travel overnight and arrive fresh, beautiful, and made with love.
  • Your king cake will always be baked the same day it ships, at its very best.
  • The moment dependable overnight service is restored, we will begin baking and shipping immediately.
  • Your place in line is completely secure—waiting will not cost you your spot.
  • We trust FedEx and respect that they are prioritizing the safety and well-being of their people.

It’s okay to feel frustrated that your joy is on hold while also honoring the very real humans working through extremely difficult conditions.

Answers to the main questions we’re receiving:

  1. Can I cancel and get a refund?
Yes. If you would rather not wait, we completely understand. You can request a cancellation and full refund by emailing hello@gingerbreadtwins.com with your name and order number. Please know that canceling does mean losing your current place in line, and any future order would begin again as new.
  2. How will I know when you’re shipping again?
We will email you as soon as overnight service is stable and baking and shipping resume. You will not be left wondering—you will hear directly from us the moment things move forward.
  3. Why can’t you ship if I live only an hour away?
We understand why that feels confusing. Even short-distance packages rely on the same overnight systems, and with service unstable, delays or mishandling can still happen. We want to protect you from the heartbreak of a late or less-than-fresh king cake after you’ve waited with anticipation.
  4. Can I change my address?
Yes. If you need to update your shipping address before your order ships, please email hello@gingerbreadtwins.com with your new address and order number, and we will gladly update it.
  5. Will my king cake still be fresh when all this is over?
Yes. Nothing will be pre-baked or held. Your king cakes and cookies will be baked the day they ship, so they arrive as fresh and joyful as if you were picking them up in person.

If you feel torn between waiting and canceling, please know that those feelings are completely valid. There is already so much happening right now, and having something you were looking forward to feel uncertain can land heavier than expected—you are not alone in that. We are watching this closely, advocating for you with our shipping partners, and protecting the quality and care you deserve so that, as soon as it is safe and reliable, our ovens will be warm, our team will be ready, and your order will be on its way with all the sweetness it was meant to bring.

We know how disappointing it is to continue waiting, and we truly understand the frustration these ongoing delays may be causing. Our hearts are with everyone impacted by the winter storms, and we’re keeping affected families and communities in our thoughts and prayers.

At this time, FedEx remains under a National Service Disruption, and overnight service has not yet resumed, which means shipping for our king cakes and cookies must remain paused. Because our products are perishable, we won’t begin baking until we can guarantee next-day delivery—ensuring your order arrives fresh and exactly as it should, never compromised by delays outside of our control. We’re closely monitoring the situation and will move forward the moment FedEx overnight service is restored, sharing an update as soon as anything changes.

We are deeply grateful for your patience, kindness, and understanding during this time. Thank you for allowing us to care for your order with the attention it deserves. We can’t wait to get your king cakes and cookies on their way and be part of your Mardi Gras celebration.

With appreciation,

At this time, there still hasn’t been a change to FedEx overnight service, so shipping for our king cakes and cookies remains paused. We’re continuing to monitor the situation closely and will move forward as soon as conditions allow.

Our hearts continue to be with everyone affected by the recent storms, and we keep those families and communities in our thoughts and prayers.

Thank you so much for your patience and kindness—it truly means the world to us. We’re so looking forward to getting your king cakes and cookies out the door and helping you celebrate Mardi Gras with all the sweetness and joy of the season.

We wanted to take a moment to reach out and give you a quick, honest update about ongoing shipping delays.

FedEx continues to operate under a National Service Disruption, with contingency plans that have now been in place for nearly a week. While this isn’t new information, we want to keep you informed as these delays persist. As much as we wish we could move forward, this situation remains outside of our control.

We also want to take a moment to acknowledge everyone impacted by the ice storm. This weather has touched so many of our customers, friends, and team members, and we’re keeping you close in our hearts. We’re praying for your safety and comfort as you navigate power outages, water shortages, travel disruptions, and all the challenges this storm has brought. Please take care of yourselves and one another.

We take so much pride in sending out our king cakes and cookies at their very best—soft, fresh, and made with care. Because they’re perishable and we refuse to let them arrive less than perfect, we’ve made the tough call to keep shipments paused until we can guarantee that your order will reach you within 24 hours of being baked. Once we’re confident deliveries can happen that quickly, we’ll start shipping again right away.

Please know this hasn’t been an easy call. We are doing everything we can behind the scenes, and we’re so grateful for the grace, patience, and kindness so many of you have shown us during this time. It truly means more than you know.

We promise to keep you updated and to start shipping the moment it’s safe to do so.

With appreciation,

Billy & Denny
The Gingerbread Twins

01/29/26 @ 10:30am CT

Thank you so much for your patience and continued support. We know how frustrating delays can be, especially during a season meant for celebrating. The kindness and understanding you’ve shown our team during this time truly means the world to us.

Here is the latest update on our shipping situation:

Fulfillment & Freshness

  • Orders are being fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis due to the temporary weather-related backlog, allowing us to care for customers in the order they’ve been waiting.
  • All king cakes are baked fresh the same day they ship and are in customers’ hands the very next day.

Merchandise Only Orders

  • Merchandise-only orders may ship ahead of king cakes since they are not impacted by freshness requirements.

Shipping Update

  • Most king cakes ship via FedEx Priority or Standard services. This means the majority of shipments pass through the FedEx.

Memphis Hub

  • As of today, the Memphis hub continues to be shut down, preventing king cake shipments from moving forward.

At this time, we are prepared for shipping delays to potentially continue into next week. While this is outside of our control, please know that we are ready to move quickly as soon as service resumes, and we truly apologize for the continued delay.

Thank you again for your patience and trust. We can’t wait to get your king cakes and cookies to you so you can celebrate Mardi Gras with all the joy, color, and tradition it deserves. 💜💛💚

We wanted to provide a quick update following our previous message regarding weather-related shipping delays.

At this time, FedEx has not yet approved the resumption of overnight shipping. This decision reflects their ongoing assessment of current conditions and commitment to maintaining reliable service.

Because our products are perishable, we will not begin baking until overnight shipping has been resumed. This ensures that your king cake will be delivered the day after being baked, so it arrives fresh and exactly as intended.

Our team remains in close communication with FedEx and is doing everything possible to resume shipments as soon as conditions allow. As soon as overnight shipping is cleared, we will immediately begin baking and return to normal operations. We will continue to keep you informed with updates. Please keep an eye out for email updates and on our webpage for banner notices.

We know how eagerly you are waiting to receive your king cakes, and we truly appreciate your patience. We are just as excited to bake and send your order as you are to enjoy it, and we can’t wait to get it on its way to you. We love and appreciate our customers!

Thank you again for your understanding and for choosing Gingerbread Twins this Mardi Gras season.

Sincerely,
