Shipping Delay Updates

Severe winter weather across the country is impacting shipping and delivery timelines, and some Gingerbread Twins orders have been affected.

This page is your go-to place for the most up-to-date information regarding weather-related shipping delays. Below, you’ll find all updates we’ve shared with customers whose orders have been impacted.

We know how important your order is, and we truly appreciate your patience as our team and shipping partners work through these challenges safely.

Current Update

01/30/26 @ 11:45am CT

We wanted to take a moment to reach out and give you a quick, honest update about ongoing shipping delays.

FedEx continues to operate under a National Service Disruption, with contingency plans that have now been in place for nearly a week. While this isn’t new information, we want to keep you informed as these delays persist. As much as we wish we could move forward, this situation remains outside of our control.

We also want to take a moment to acknowledge everyone impacted by the ice storm. This weather has touched so many of our customers, friends, and team members, and we’re keeping you close in our hearts. We’re praying for your safety and comfort as you navigate power outages, water shortages, travel disruptions, and all the challenges this storm has brought. Please take care of yourselves and one another.

We take so much pride in sending out our king cakes and cookies at their very best—soft, fresh, and made with care. Because they’re perishable and we refuse to let them arrive less than perfect, we’ve made the tough call to keep shipments paused until we can guarantee that your order will reach you within 24 hours of being baked. Once we’re confident deliveries can happen that quickly, we’ll start shipping again right away.

Please know this hasn’t been an easy call. We are doing everything we can behind the scenes, and we’re so grateful for the grace, patience, and kindness so many of you have shown us during this time. It truly means more than you know.

We promise to keep you updated and to start shipping the moment it’s safe to do so.

With appreciation,

Billy & Denny
The Gingerbread Twins

Past Updates

01/29/26 @ 10:30am CT

Thank you so much for your patience and continued support. We know how frustrating delays can be, especially during a season meant for celebrating. The kindness and understanding you’ve shown our team during this time truly means the world to us.

Here is the latest update on our shipping situation:

Fulfillment & Freshness

  • Orders are being fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis due to the temporary weather-related backlog, allowing us to care for customers in the order they’ve been waiting.
  • All king cakes are baked fresh the same day they ship and are in customers’ hands the very next day.

Merchandise Only Orders

  • Merchandise-only orders may ship ahead of king cakes since they are not impacted by freshness requirements.

Shipping Update

  • Most king cakes ship via FedEx Priority or Standard services. This means the majority of shipments pass through the FedEx.

Memphis Hub

  • As of today, the Memphis hub continues to be shut down, preventing king cake shipments from moving forward.

At this time, we are prepared for shipping delays to potentially continue into next week. While this is outside of our control, please know that we are ready to move quickly as soon as service resumes, and we truly apologize for the continued delay.

Thank you again for your patience and trust. We can’t wait to get your king cakes and cookies to you so you can celebrate Mardi Gras with all the joy, color, and tradition it deserves. 💜💛💚

With gratitude,

Billy & Denny

We wanted to provide a quick update following our previous message regarding weather-related shipping delays.

At this time, FedEx has not yet approved the resumption of overnight shipping. This decision reflects their ongoing assessment of current conditions and commitment to maintaining reliable service.

Because our products are perishable, we will not begin baking until overnight shipping has been resumed. This ensures that your king cake will be delivered the day after being baked, so it arrives fresh and exactly as intended.

Our team remains in close communication with FedEx and is doing everything possible to resume shipments as soon as conditions allow. As soon as overnight shipping is cleared, we will immediately begin baking and return to normal operations. We will continue to keep you informed with updates. Please keep an eye out for email updates and on our webpage for banner notices.

We know how eagerly you are waiting to receive your king cakes, and we truly appreciate your patience. We are just as excited to bake and send your order as you are to enjoy it, and we can’t wait to get it on its way to you. We love and appreciate our customers!

Thank you again for your understanding and for choosing Gingerbread Twins this Mardi Gras season.

Sincerely,

Billy & Denny
